Wheelchairs for Mazatlan.

On Monday Nov. 26th 07 we broke our routine of late and received invited guests for sharing in fellowship, and dinner. Bob Pesant, A former president and long time member of Brampton’s Heart Lake Rotary club was on hand to give our club a presentation on exciting developments pertaining to district 7080’s wheel chair program. Our club was first approached with an offer to participate in the program back in early February of this year. Our modest financial contribution, in addition to funds raised from Woodstock-Oxford and the rest of Brampton’s Rotary clubs would be matched by contributions from the District and Rotary International to the tune of $20,000 by Fall this year. All proceeds went directly towards paying for the Chinese made wheel chairs that were imported directly into the district of Mazatlan in Mexico and distributed according to need by local aid agencies. At an event in Mazatlan, organized to show appreciation for the accomplishment of Bob’s program, the participating Rotary clubs were presented with certificates of appreciation, which Bob accepted on behalf of Brampton Flower city.
After the presentation Monday night, Bob Pesant, flanked by Nancy Kastner, and Gordon Newman of the Heart Lake Rotary club presented our club with a certificate of appreciation from the Rotary clubs of Mazatlan. Khris Ramjatten received the certificate on our clubs behalf and thanked Bob and the other visiting Rotary members for their excellent work in shepherding this worthy cause to fruition.
