Chalk up another major award for Brampton Flower City Rotary Club member Dr. Anthony Hutchinson. Dr. Hutchinson, who is the CEO of the Brampton Neighbourhood Resource Centre, has been honoured with the Planet Africa Development Award. He received the award at a gala reception held in Mississauga on October 24th.
Dr. Hutchinson, whose life path was changed through mentoring from one of crime to higher education and social service, emphasized the need for community involvement.
“As a community we have a vital responsibility to our youth. The importance of mentoring is critical to positive youth growth and development”
The Planet Africa Awards celebrate worldwide Leadership and Excellence. This was the sixth year the awards have been handed out. Fifteen people were honoured at the gala, which was hosted by Canadian football great, Michael “Pinball” Clemons.

He has authored numerous articles on social determinants of health, community safety, youth development, social inclusion and indicators of success. Earlier this year, he was one of only 10 people from across Canada awarded the prestigious Citation for Citizenship Award, presented by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
