Rotarian earns Ontario Public Service Award

Nina Dixon is a Registrar in the Office of the Chief Justice with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Toronto.Nina demonstrates her amazing spirit by volunteering with the Brampton Flower City Centennial Rotary Club. The Brampton Flower City Centennial Rotary Club serves and creates opportunities for families and youth in need in the Brampton community.
Nina volunteers her time, creative skills and knowledge to become connected to her community, and to work with others in addressing community needs. Nina interacts with other professionals in her community; and she assists with the Rotary International's international humanitarian service efforts.
Many of the projects the Rotary Club have developed take place on the weekends. The members work collectively to make sure that the initiatives make a change and ensure a positive impact within the community. Some of the projects Nina has worked on are: The Dictionary program (donation of books and dictionaries to schools), The Breakfast Program & Camp Jumoke (creates awareness and raises funds for children who have sickle cell anaemia, Mentorship Committee (allows youth to shadow the members of the Rotary Club to create an outlet for them and have attainable goals to achieve through rotary/fellowship), One Voice One Team (supports and assists at risk youth develop personal character regardless of their socio economic status).
Nina has been involved with the Brampton Flower City Rotary club for 2 years. In January 2009 she was elected by the members to be the club secretary. She volunteers every Monday evening to participate in the Rotary meetings and, additionally, volunteers on the weekends when there are events or ongoing initiatives.
